Nanotechnology Start-Ups Honored at InTICE Competition, Drexelink

Drexel nanotechnology start-up companies Y-Carbon and Magnetic Biosystems (MBS) were selected as two of the top eight business ideas in the First International Nanotechnology Business Idea Competition, sponsored by the Institute for Technology Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (InTICE) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Forty-nine start-up companies from around the world — representing the cutting-edge in nanotechnology commercialization — submitted business plans for the competition. Both Drexel teams were among eight that reached the final round of the competition. They received honorable mention awards and $1,000 cash prizes. Y-Carbon donated its prize to the UNICEF Tsunami Relief Effort.
