ElectrodeX is a family of activated carbon based electrodes for use in batteries, supercapacitors (also known as ultracapacitor) and capacitive desalination (also known as capacitive deionization). Our unprecedented pore size control allows us to achieve nearly twice the energy density of conventional supercapacitor materials, and to absorb more salt than conventional porous carbons in capacitive desalination. Furthermore, we can produce materials with under 100 ppm of impurities, avoiding contamination in sensitive applications. ElectrodeX can be made in nanoparticle form as well as more conventional micron-sized powders, enhancing kinetics for applications such as metal-air batteries. And, in addition to battery, supercapacitor and capacitive desalination materials, we can supply electrode, which have higher performance as catalyst supports for fuel cells than competing porous carbons.
