The Opportunity
Y-Carbon, Inc. seeks a professional and innovative researcher for its corporate postdoctoral program. If you are looking for an opportunity where you can continue discovering, developing, manufacturing and commercializing nanomaterials for solving energy, water or treating people with serious or life-threatening diseases, then this may be the position for you! As a Y-Carbon Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you would find yourself collaborating with experts in the respective field. This fellowship will last one year with possibility of 1-2 year extension. Eligibility:
• US citizens, nationals or legal permanent residents.
• Doctoral Degree in Engineering (Materials Science, Electrical, Chemical, Biochemistry, Biomaterials or a related field). Fresh PhDs graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. PhDs graduated earlier than 2006 will not be considered under this program.

The Opportunity
Y-Carbon, Inc. seeks a professional and innovative individual for our biochemist position. If you are looking for an opportunity to creatively solve problems, conduct experiments and be a vital part of a research and product development team, then this may be the position for you! The Biochemist will be a key member of Y-Carbon’s research and product development team to support the ongoing effort of commercialization of Y-Carbon’s nanoporous carbon technology. Basic Function:
• Setup experiments required for studying adsorption of biomolecules (such as inflammatory cytokines, hemoglobin, etc.) and drugs by porous carbon materials.
• Perform experimental studies on adsorption of bio toxins: sample collection and preparation, analysis by ELISA assays, UV-Vis spectroscopy and other related techniques.
• Perform materials characterization to establish relationships between materials properties and performance.
• Assist in research and development by working with Chief Technology Officer on various biotechnology related projects.
• Perform laboratory experiments to assist in research and development of new materials and processes for biotech applications.
Requirements:
• Masters or Doctoral Degree in Biochemistry, Biomaterials, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Immunology or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with performing tests using ELISA assays.
• Experience in using a UV-Vis spectrometer.
• Knowledge of immunology, hemofiltration, enterosorbents, and sepsis.
• Strong ability to analyze and interpret scientific data generated from the lab or external testing.
• Experience in SBIR/STTR program a plus.
• Experience in writing proposals and project report a plus.
• Requires efficient written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills; as well as being detail-oriented and having the ability to multi-task.
• 1 - 2 years of relevant experience.

Position Overview
Y-Carbon is looking to fill two internship positions in the field of carbon nanomaterials for the summer of 2010. The interns will work closely with Y-Carbon’s staff on the development of next-generation porous carbon materials and on applications development.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparation of materials.
• Characterize as-prepared materials.
• Prepare and evaluate electrodes for supercapacitor and desalination applications.
• Assemble and test electrochemical cells.
• Organize test results and maintain thorough notes.
• Perform additional duties as required.
Specific Skills/Abilities:
• Strong grasp of fundamental scientific and engineering principles.
• Good laboratory work habits and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable worker
Education/Experience:

Y-Carbon, Inc. is seeking operators to join our facility located in Bristol, PA. Individual must be a self starter, able to work with minimum direction and be a team player. Candidates must possess a good working knowledge of chemical plant operations.
Basic Function:
• Implement and document carbon manufacturing processes.
• Conduct and document experiment.
• Assist management with improving the efficiency of manufacturing processes.
• Assist management with the procurement of process equipment and machinery.

• The Operator will assure all production activities are conducted in a safe, responsible and environmentally sound manner.
Requirements:
• Two-year technical associate degree.
• Minimum 2 years experience providing process and/or engineering support in a chemical manufacturing environment.

• Experience in working on corrosive gases such as chlorine.
• Basic understanding of safety rules and regulation of hazardous gases.
